Medical Skin Peels
Chemical Skin Peels
What many of us don't realise is that often our skin problems are associated with excessive build-up of dead skin cells that accumulate and clog up our skin, making the skin look dull and tired. This can simply be rectified through chemical skin peels.
What are chemical skin peels?
Chemical skin peels are a popular and effective way to rejuvenate and revitalise the skin. Working to gently exfoliate the upper layers of the skin, a healthier and brighter complexion is revealed.
Peels also stimulate the production of collagen, which is the substance that gives skin its elasticity. Combined with the exfoliating effect of the peel, chemical peels deliver fresher, healthier and younger looking skin.
The treatment can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions including:
- Acne and shallow acne scars
- Sun damage
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Uneven skin tone and texture
Chemical Peels at Skin Solutions
At Skin Solutions, we provide a range of medical formulation chemical peel treatments of varying strengths, each one prescribed specifically for the patient dependent on the desired effect and the extent of skin damage. Best results are achieved and maintained from peels if the right skin care is used on a regular basis. This can be advised during your consultation.
Superficial Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) peel
Available in various strengths this is a very gentle type of peel that penetrates only the outer layer of skin (epidermis) to gently exfoliate it. It is used for freshening up the skin, improving skin texture and helping with acne. There is no downtime, although a single peel can be used as a "one off" to achieve radiance for a special occasion. Usually a course is recommended for maximum visible results. This peel can be used on all skin types.
Medium Tri-Chloracetic Acid (TCA) Peel
The Medium TCA Peels penetrate deeper into the skin to achieve a faster and more dramatic result. This treatment can be used to improve age spots, fine lines, wrinkles and moderate skin pigmentation. There is a period of associated downtime where the skin peel is very similar to sunburn over several days. Darker skin types are not always suitable for deeper peels.
Dermamelan and cosmelan peels
Dermamelan is an extremely effective and safe treatment for facial pigmentation. The dermamelan chemical peel mask and maintenance creams have a direct effect on the formation process of the pigment (melanin) by inhibiting tyrosinase, which is an enzyme in the melanin formation process. In addition, significant skin rejuvenation also occurs by increasing skin luminosity and enhancing skin tone. It is suitable for all skin types.
Dermamelan depigmentation treatment is effective in reducing up to 95 per cent of pigmentation on the surface of the skin. 30 days after the first dermamelan mask application, a noticeable difference will be seen. This will continue to improve over time and results can be enhanced with the use of a second dermamelan treatment.
Cosmelan works in a similar way to dermamelan, however, it is generally a milder treatment used for less severe pigmentation or for a general rejuvenating effect.
